Meinhas de pom pom

I have decided to knit a pair of socks, so I have a mobile project to take with me to my doctor´s or dentist´s offices. It really gets on my nerve, having to seat and waaaait to be called. Knitting makes time go by faster.
These ones I took from Tricôs e mais Tricôs and the caliber of Sandra´s work is really impressive. I love everything she has knitted. I only hope, one day, I can be as good as she is!
Also, she has introduced me to the Blythe´s world! OMG, I am in deep trouble now, the little doll has become the object of my desire. In a nut shell, I so cannot afford them!!! They go average for U$300 a piece, and I was not even looking for the limited edition. I have fallen for Rosie Red. She is sophisticated, chic, simply plain cool. Actually, she would be a doll version of my fashion diva, Rachel Ray. I can totally picture her wearing little fur vests, mini sequin hats, bell bottom pants and tons of shoes, bags and belts. Rosie comes with a cute black fur coat to validate what I am saying. She is not blondie though. Totally bananas! Would Rachel approve my crazy dream of consume? Like she cares!
Thank you very much Sandra, now I got bitten by the Blythe´s bug and there´s no vaccine against the bug but buying one. My husband is about to kill me and set fire to my clutter. Seriously! During dinner, I made a casual comment about it and the response was instantaneous: -“Yeah, these people (Blythe´s people) have no life. Besides, you are a grown up woman to go around playing with dolls, don´t you think?” I changed subject quickly.
Decidi tricotar um par de meias, daí eu tenho um projeto portátil para levar ao médico e ao dentista. Ė enervante, ficar ali esperando para ser chamado. Além disso, tricotar ajuda a passar o tempo, e é produtivo.
Essas eu tirei do Tricôs e Mais Tricôs e o calibre dos trabalhos da Sandra é realmente impressionante. Eu amo tudo o que ela tricota. Oxalá um dia, eu tricote tão bem quanto ela!
Na mesma nota, ela também me introduziu ao mundo das bonecas Blythe! Minha Virgem Santa, estou em apuros agora, a boneca virou meu sonho de consumo, mas eu não posso comprá-las mesmo!!! Com todas as letras, sem tirar nem pôr! Elas custam em média US$ 300 cada, e elas não são nem mesmo edição limitada. Eu me apaixonei pela Rosie Red. Ela é sofisticada, chique, simplesmente manera. Na verdade, ela é uma versão em formato de boneca da minha diva fashionista, Rachel Zoe. Eu posso visualizar a cena; ela usando coletinhos de pele, boininhas de lantejoulas, pantalonas e toneladas de sapatinhos, bolsinhas e cintos. Para validar tudo que estou falando, Rosie já vem com um casaquinho preto de pele. Très chic! Mas ela não é loira. Uma loucura! Será que a Rachel aprovaria esse meu sonho de consumo? Ela não daria a mínima, isso eu sei!
Bem, agora fui mordida pelo bichinho das Blythes e o único jeito seria comprar uma. Mas meu marido já está para me matar mesmo e queimar toda a minha tralha. Sério, na mesa jantando, eu mencionei a boneca, e ele respondeu rápido: -“Esse pessoal (os que compram bonecas) não têem mais nada prá fazer. Além do mais, vc já está bem crescidinha para brincar com boneca, não está?”
Eu mudei de assunto.

Got hats?

I totally dig into knitting hats. I´ve just knitted one more to my collection. This one is called "Falling leaves". Well, fall is already here, and this hat is perfect to be worn in the beginning of the season, rather than winter.I had to do the blocking technique, cause the yarn was not the right one for this type of project. It´s the second time, I mess up with the work cause I don´t choose the right yarn.Worsted weight is so not the right one for this pattern! Most of the detailed and textured effect is no longer there after blocking. I have gone bananas trying to figure out what yarn forward tension (gauge)is all about.

Some tips on the owl hat

I had lots of fun knitting this owl hat.
I gotta tell you, it was my first time knitting with a circular needle, and everything went quite smooth.

I decreased the stitches on my circular needle but on the 4 round in the pattern, with 63 very tight stitches on a 16"inch diameter needle, keeping decreasing became very uncomfortable for me. For this reason, I knitted them off to three dpn (double point needles) using the three double needle technique that I picked up on the internet.

I divided the stitches evenly (21 stitches in each one). You knit them as if you were knitting with straight needles. You should take every stitch off a double point, onto an empty dpn. Believe me, dpn was my life saver! Mission impossible is to keep on decreasing with a circular! I had to do something… I did some google search and I stumbled upon Crazy Aunt Purl and by the way, the author and developer of the site, writes out hilarious stuff!
Yarn used: 60% pima cotton, 40% modal – shine worsted weight- From Knit picks
Circular needle: 5.5 mm.
Beginning: 09/20
Ending: 09/23
No modifications

Foi muito bom tricotar esse gorro de corujas. Eu tenho que confessar que para minha primeira vez com a agulha circular, tudo correu muito bem.
Eu fiz as diminuições com a circular e na quarta volta, com 63 super apertados pontos e realmente não conseguindo tricotar mais, eu passei os pontos para as agulhas de duas pontas. Eu dividi os pontos por igual (21 pontos) para cada agulha, e continuei diminuindo como se estivesse usando uma agulha reta. Você tira ponto por ponto de cada adp (agulha de duas pontas), para a agulha adp vazia que você tem na mão direita. Ė sério, as adps foram minha salvação, quando eu comecei a diminuir. Diminuir com a circular seria impossível. Fica tudo muito apertado! Eu tinha que pensar em algo... Procurei no google e deparei com este sítio chamado Tricô da tia maluca, além disso eu me diverti com sua autora. Ela é hilária!

Gorro de corujas

I have been very busy knitting away long projects. One of them is a poncho, and perhaps, God willing, I finish it up by 2012. In the mean time, I started two other small pieces; a cable stitch scarf and a cute owlhat.
Both of them require some cable knitting skills.
I got the pattern for the hat here, and I´d love to translate this pattern, simply because I really had to work hard to find a site where they would write up the pattern in details. I´m keeping the fingers crossed, wishing this pattern has no mishaps, or better, I don’t mess up anywhere along the way.
The second project is a scarf, and I found it here. I absolutely followed the pattern to the teeth, no modifications. When you are able to grasp the concept of how cable stitch is knitted, you can almost knit it on automatic pilot mode.
Learning cable stitch has opened a door to new challenges. It has helped me to understand and decipher a vast array of new patterns.
I would like to thank Cy, from a site called Multicriativa, for her patience and dedication in teaching the technique so gracefully.
Tenho estado ocupada tricotando longos projetos. Um deles é um poncho, o tal do poncho da Guaraná, e talvez eu termine lá pelo ano 2012. Nesse meio tempo, eu comecei dois outros projetos menores; um cachecol de trança e um gorro de corujas, gracinha.
Ambos projetos requerem tricotar tranças.
Eu consegui a receita do gorro aqui e eu gostaria de traduzi-la, simplesmente porque foi difícil encontrar um sítio que desse a receita em detalhes. Estou torcendo para que a receita não tenha erros, ou melhor, para que eu não bagunce a receita pelo caminho.
O segundo projeto é um cachecol, e o encontrei aqui. Segui a receita à risca, sem modificações. Quando se entende o conceito das tranças, dá para tricotar as peças no piloto automático.
Aprender a tricotar tranças abriu as portas para novos desafios. Ajudou-me a entender e decifrar um vasto território de novas receitas.
Eu gostaria de agradecer a tricoteira e autora Cy, do Multicriativa, pela sua paciência e dedicação em ensinar essa técnica tão graciosamente.

Parabéns para minha querida amiga Ana. Até isso, quase que fazemos juntas. O meu foi ontem, o dela hoje. Se há uma coisa que não posso me queixar é de falta de amigos, graças a Virgem, eu os tenho. Alguns mais recentes, outros de loooonga data como da minha grande amiga, Ana. Podemos ficar velhas, mas a amizade perdura-se por 34 aninhos! Ela ocupa um lugar de destaque no meu coração.

Esta boina é a Spring Beret.Eu não acertei fazê-la com um fio que mostre o detalhe do trabalho rendado dela. Ela é fácil, mas vou fazer uma outra com um fio menos espesso.Talvez ela também fique mais soltinha e com mais carinha de boina.

Pom pom hat

I couldn´t resist but post these pom-pom hats. I saw them on Rachel Zoe´s last show, and I fell in love with them. The thing is, I don´t think I am up to the task to make it work for me. They are cute, but way too couture.Yeah, they are a bargain; just $200 a piece and are back order, just available in Oct. Just a whimsical knitting idea!
Não consegui resistir e tive que postar estes chapéus de pom-poms. Eu os vi no último show da Rachel Zoe e eu me apaixonei. O problema é, eu não sei se eu consigo transar um visual para mim. Eles são bonitinhos, mas muito passarela para meu gosto. Eles custam a bagatela de U$200 cada, e não há stock para entrega no momento, só em outubro. Eles estão no site da DVF.

Picture Perfect

Wedding receptions can be tricky, if someone asks me. When they are too big, they usually lose their authenticity and coziness. If they are too quite, they might end up losing their dynamics.
Past Saturday, we attended a perfect sized one; Laura and Blair’s wedding.
The ceremony was short and the priest went straight to the point. Vows were exchanged and we were out of there! Wonderful! Then, the bridesmaids were wearing a short, satin baby blue dress with ivory sashes accenting their waist line, and for a change, they really looked pretty and did not outnumber the guests.
The bride’s dress was off white, well constructed, especially around her waist. The drapes totally molded her body in a very seductive way. But then, Laura would look gorgeous anyway; even wrapped on burlap and flip flops. Seriously!
The food was pretty good and the bar served up decent top shelf mixed drinks, good wine, beer and even whiskey.
Live band set a high note for the evening, and by the number of people that hit the dance floor, they played to not disappoint anyone. Even Norm and I tried some steps.
In summary, all I can say is that we enjoyed it very much. It was lovely! They make a sweet couple, and we wish that the happiness of this day repeats itself for many, many more years to come!

Se alguém me perguntar eu diria que casamentos são imprevisíveis. Quando muitas pessoas são convidadas, eles geralmente perdem sua autenticidade e aconchego. Se são mais íntimos, eles acabam não tendo uma dinâmica.
Sábado passado fomos convidados para um de perfeito porte; o de Laura e Blair.
A cerimônia foi curta e o padre foi direto ao ponto. Os votos foram trocados e o culto terminou rápido.
Maravilha! As madrinhas usaram um vestido de cetim curto, azul-bebê com uma faixa marfim que acentuava as cinturas, e para variar, elas realmente estavam lindas, somente seis.
O vestido da noiva não era branco, quase que um marfim, super bem estruturado, especialmente na altura da cintura. O drapeado moldando o corpo de Laura sedutoramente. Mas para dizer a verdade, Laura é linda vestida até com um saco enrolado e sandália havaianas. É sério!
A comida estava gostosa e eles serviram coquetéis de primeira linha, um bom vinho, cerveja e até whiskey.
Uma banda deu um tom mais refinado à noite, e pelo número de pessoas que dançaram, eles não disapontaram ninguém. Até Norm e eu tentamos um passinhos.
Em resumo, eu gostei muito. Foi ótimo! Eles formam um casal lindo, e nós desejamos que afelicidade deste dia se repita por muitos e muitos anos!

Pedacinhos de crochê

My mom was a crochet addicted! She lived to crochet and she was quite good at it! Her life never revolved around one type of craftsmanship, but she really enjoyed crocheting. I remember seeing her really concentrate at it. She wouldn’t answer to anyone, talk or look to nobody, totally absorbed by it. I recall being a bit of a pain to get her attention. Now, my karma comes back to me, when I’m knitting and my husband, Norman talks to me, trying to get my attention! Excuse me, I’m counting stitches here!!!!
Perhaps for my mom, crochet might have been the center of her universe. But then, when she finished her pieces, I would realize why she was so into it. She really enjoyed the intricate work: the detailing meticulously crocheted at odds hours of the night... soothing, more relaxing than Prozac, out of body experience. Who knows!!
After her passing, I kept some pieces that are the treasure of my life. So many more pieces got lost though! My mom is no longer with me, but her craft is my tidbits of her that I will always have…
Minha mãe era uma crocheteira viciada! A vida dela não era só esta arte, ela adorava diferentes artesanatos! Entretanto, crochê, era o seu passatempo preferido. Eu me lembro vê-la crochetar, e realmente se concentrar no seu trabalho. Ela não falava com ninguém, ou olhava para ninguém, enquanto ela crochetava. Meu carma voltou na forma do meu marido, quando ele tenta, incansavelmente tirar a minha atenção do tricô, para prestar atenção nele. Espera um momento, estou contanto agora!!!
Para minha mãe, talvez, crochê fosse o centro do seu universo: mais importante que qualquer outra coisa que a rodeasse. Mas quando ela terminava seu trabalho, aí eu entendia o porque de tanta introspeccão. Ela adorava trabalhos detalhados: os detalhes a levavam a crochetar até altas horas da noite. Era um calmante, um relaxante, mais poderoso que Dienpax, uma experiência extraterrestre. Quem sabe!!
Depois que ela se foi, eu fiquei com algumas peças, que eu guardo com a minha própria vida. Tantos outros trabalhos se perderam! Minha mãe não está mais nesta vida, mas o seu trabalhos, são os meus pedacinhos dela que eu sempre vou ter...

Turkish stitch scarf

I knitted this scarf in no time, using a heavy worsted weight yarn. I fell in love with the colorway and it´s been knitted with the Turkish stitch. It is quite easy, fast and cute.
This was my first knitting project, and I have no clue why the ends are stitched in a diagonal.
Anyways, I put four looks together (corporate and casual) with the help of Susan, my botox/diva. Actually, there´s about a dozen different ways to wrap it around your body, but for the sake of my sanity (and yours too) I am just posting four.Have fun with it and put your creativity to the test.
Eu tricotei esse cachecol em tempo recorde, usando uma lã de espessura grossa. Eu me apaixonei pelas cores, e ele foi tricotado com o ponto turco. Bem fácil, fofinho e rápido.
Esse foi meu primeiro projeto de tricô, e eu não faço idéia de como as pontas terminaram tricotadas em diagonal.
Enfim, eu montei quatro ¨looks¨ (passeio, trabalho), com a ajuda da Susan, minha botox/diva. Na verdade, há cerca de doze maneiras sortidas de enrolá-lo no seu corpo, mas para o bem-estar da minha sanidade (e da sua também) eu só postei quatro. Divirta-se e coloque sua criatividade em teste.

Feasting on the Beatles

This past Saturday, we went to see Paul McCartney´s show at Piedmont Park. ¨Drive my Car¨ was the opening song and it definitely set the tone for the evening.
Fifty thousand people attended it, despite the torrential rain that came down right after he took stage.
Norm and I started moving closer to stage, 400 yards away to 25 feet closer. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. By the age of sixteen, I listened to almost every Beatles albums my hands could get a hold. Sir Paul McCartney is one of the greatest entertainer of this century and his showmanship is nothing short than extraordinary.
He dedicated ¨Something¨ to his beloved late wife Linda and to George Harrison. Memories of happy moments in my life just popped up back...My eyes got watery, but Beatles fans did not leave the show disappointed. He played and sang beautifully songs like: ¨A Day the life¨, ¨The end¨, ¨Day Tripper¨, ¨Got to get you into my life¨, ¨Live and let die¨, ¨Back to the USSR,¨ Hey Jude¨ and so many more…
It was really touching and special!
Around 11:00 pm, he was singing his third encore. We left still hearing him singing! This was my first Paul McCartney show and he really puts on a jubilant show. Paultastic!!!

Sábado agora fomos assistir ao concerto do Paul McCartney, no Piedmont Park. ¨Drive my Car¨ foi a música de abertura e determinou o tom do que estava por vir.
Cinqüenta mil pessoas assistiram ao show, apesar da chuva torrencial que começou assim que ele apareceu no palco.
Norm e eu começamos a nos aproximar do palco, ficando super próximos dele. Eu tive que me beliscar para me certificar que nao estava sonhando. Com dezesseis anos de idade, eu já havia escutado quase todos os álbums dos Beatles que eu pudesse emprestar ou comprar.
Paul McCartney é um dos melhores artistas deste século, e sua presença de palco é espetacular.
Ele dedicou ¨Something¨ à sua adorada e falecida esposa Linda e seu parceiro George Harrison. Lembranças de tantos momentos felizes da minha vida, afloraram. Meus olhos se encheram de água, mas fans dos Beatles nao saíram do show decepcionados. Sir Paul tocou e cantou lindamente as músicas: ¨A day the life¨, ¨The end¨, ¨Day Tripper¨, ¨Got to get you into my life¨, ¨Live and Let Die¨ e tantas outras....
Ele tocou fundo e o show foi especial!
Lá pelas 23:00h, ele estava cantando a terceira música do bis. Nós saímos do show ao som da sua voz! Foi minha primeira vez com Paul McCartney, e ele é um show imperdível!

De-Loved

Seeing Harry Potter in his latest adventures against Voldemort´s dark forces was a bit disappointing.
Half Blood Prince is a pathetic excuse for a franchise that shouldn’t have gone any further after Order of the Phoenix.
Everything in life is a learning curve, but then, we get better at whatever we do, then we excel at it. Self-actualization, exactly like Maslow´s hierarchy of needs predicts .
Harry Potter on the other hand, never excels at any subject at that school of witchcraft and wizardry. Yeah, he did decent at the dark arts, but that was it. My girl, Hermione is much more talented and committed pupil, but Harry is the chosen one! Go figure! The sent message bothers me, I do not believe in predestination.
In every situation, Harry Potter is always in the middle of the action, however, he never pulls it off without external help. I mean, never….
One treat he really has is initiative, but I would love to see him going a mile ahead, without having to be helped by his mates, professors or Dumbledore.
Once more, all hell will break loose in the end (typical of every Harry´s movies), but I am not giving anything away! I am not here to spoil it to anyone. Watch it and you will come up with your conclusions.
My wish to Harry Potter: please grow up and master skills to achieve excellence.
By the way, it was a waste of three hours of my life. I might have broken up with him long time ago…
I forgot to mention Draco Malfoy... What was it with that hair cut ``a la queer´´ for the Almight´s sake.

Fui ver Harry Potter e suas últimas peripécias contra as forças do mau de Voldemort. Bem ruizinho.
Essa franquia não deveria ter ido além da Ordem do Phoenix. Eu acredito que o começo de todo aprendizado é dureza, mas daí, nós melhoramos naquilo que fazemos, e no final, aperfeiçoamos. Auto-realização, exatamente como a hierarquia de necessidades de Maslow prediz.
Por outro lado, Harry Potter nunca se aperfeiçoou em nenhuma matéria naquela escola de magia e bruxaria. Está certo, ele se saiu mais ou menos em magia negra, mas só. Hermione é muito mais talentosa, mas Harry foi o escolhido. A mensagem me incomoda porque eu não acredito em predestinação. Não é uma mensagem positiva e motivadora.
Harry tem estado no meio de tudo, entretanto, ele nunca sai das enrascadas sem ajuda externa. Nunca...
Um talento que ele tem é iniciativa, mas eu adoraria vê-lo sobressair-se sem ajuda dos seus amigos, professores, ou Dumbledore. No final desse filme as bruxas se soltam, mas eu não vou estragar nada para vocês. Vão ver e cheguem a conclusão por vocês mesmos.
Meu desejo para Harry Potter: cresça e desenvolva excelência.
Por falar nisso, foi uma perda de três horas da minha vida que não voltam mais. Talvez seja o fim do namoro (platônico) com Harry de uma vez por todas.
Ah, eu esqueci de mencionar Draco Malfoy... Aquele cabelinho corte à la gay, pelo amor da Santa Virgem...

Chá da tarde

Final de semana passado, fiquei em casa numa boa. Assim mesmo, sem fazer absolutamente nada, em perfeita mesmice.
Tenho zilhões de projetos em andamento, preparei um chazinho verde, e fiquei a tricotar entre um gole e outro. Chá é um ótimo revitalizador de energias. Adoro!
I just chilled at home this past weekend. Nothing to do, absolute routine.
I got gazillion of knitting projects in progress. I fixed myself a cup of green tea and enjoyed my day; knitting and sipping tea. Green tea is a great pick me up!

Golinha de trico lilás

Eu fiz essa golinha com um par de agulhas número.8mm. Super rápido de fazê-la.
Coloquei 18 pontos na agulha e tricotei por 14cm, fiz o nozinho (esse nó é feito com duas agulhas) dividindo os pontos e intercalando-os. Cada agulha fica com 9 pontos. Faça 1 ponto em trico e passe o próximo sem fazer para uma agulha auxiliar.Com 7cm de comprimento, junte os pontos novamente para uma única agulha. Use a agulha de crochê para começar o outro lado. Tricote com o ponto trico por mais 110cm e faça o nozinho novamente. Agora faça os 14cm restantes e arremate.
Eu terminei em três dias. E eu trabalho fora, só tricoto nas raríssimas horas vagas.
Tirei desse site, mas eu não gostei muito da espessura, então eu fiz menos grosso, mas mais longo.
Eu enrolo ao redor do pescoço e é gostosinho na pele.

Xale de nó

Eu acabei de fazer esse xale que eu tirei daqui. Aliás, para iniciantes, as receitas da Vitória Quintal são fantásticas. Elas são bem detalhadas e super fáceis de lembrar.
O único detalhe na receita que eu acrescentaria é para o aumento dos 4 pontos arrematados, quando temos que diminuir no começo de cada novo bico. Para as entendidas isso é mamão com açúcar, mas nós iniciantes, ajuda bastante se a receita for melhor detalhada.
Eu usei uma lã um pouco mais grossa da pedida na receita. Eu usei a linha da Wool-Ease, na cor Natural Heather (98). Ficou bem quentinho, e vai ser meu xale de ir ao cinema.
I just finished knitting this shawl I took from here. For us beginners, the patterns from Vitoria are fantastic and incredibly easy to memorize.
The only detail I would point out is to increase the four stitches (that were bound off at the beginning of the each scalloped edge) at the end of the same row.For the experts, this might be a piece of cake, but for us (beginners) a very explained pattern helps a lot.
I used worsted weight, Wool-Ease, Natural Heather(98). This might be a nice shawl to warm me up at the movies. Very cozy!

Juice Plus

Today I really did good. I hate bragging, but just today and today only, I signed up five people for Juice Plus+. And also I signed up K.'s daughter for JPCR which is excellent!!! Monday's gonna be busy, placing all these orders. Actually what makes me really happy is seeing people getting conscious about their kids health and their own. It's rewarding, because with Juice Plus+ everybody wins on the process. I refuse to say I sell Juice Plus+, I prefer saying I distribute it.
Tonight we're going to a Chinese restaurant with a friend couple.N. has been working downstairs like a mad man, making lots of progress, but it's still a long way to go. Maybe two more months, (just being optimistic) and the dust and mess will be gone.
I love to think one day coming home and being able to use downstairs, sit down and relax, in a clean dust-free room.

Mad Cow

Apologies for being so sparse lately. Unable to sit down and write on account of a crazy life. Good news is that I got an office account. I'll be starting next Monday and it's very exciting for me because this has been my dream for many years. Switch from houses to offices.It's definitely much less work and more din din...Besides offices are in general easier to maintain opposed to houses.I'm very pleased to work with British folks. They are excellent people and I crack up laughing with their sense of humor. They make you feel good and they compliment you on every silly detail. They use lots of fantastic, marvelous, tremendous...adjectives are key words!!!They get excited like they have this inner positive energy towards life and people.
Last night we rented Kill Bill Vol.1. Is Quentin Tarantino a mad genius or a crack head? I don't know the answer, but I know one thing, I'm never on any drug when I watch his movies, even though, I love all of them.Even Vol.1's chopping heads and blood-spurting, Hong Kong, kung fu action. Bla, bla, bla...

Hoje falei com uma grande amiga minha, a Sandra. Nós nos conhecemos deste o colegial e ela sempre foi e será uma grande luz na minha vida. Acreditamos em carma, em outras vidas, em pensamento positivo em coisas boas para nós e para os outros.
Ela escreve como ninguém.Suas poesias são lindas e quando ela escreve ela consegue tocar os corações com as palavras.
Como eu falei com ela, bateu uma saudade inesperada de São Vicente, das praias do Guarujá,de tomar água de coco no quiosque da tia, de não fazer nada; só olhando o mar, de comer pizza de catupiry, de ir até a ilha Porchat para dançar, do Clube dos Ingleses no sábado, do Sírio na sexta-feira, do caldo verde do Almeida, dos meus amigos do banco: Ranieri, Bete e do irmão dela, o Sombrinha do Fundo de Quintal, do Paulinho, da Sandra e da Graça.
Saudade da Ana, do Saturday Night Fever, de usar melissinha, meinha Dancing Days,
de ver Sol de Verao, Dancing Days e aquela que tinha a Odete Roihtmman (era Dancing Days?)
Saudades de ver Túnel do Tempo, Jennie é um gênio, Perdidos no Espaço,A Feiticeira, da Rhonda, Mary Tyler Moore. Saudade do Topo Giggio.Do colégio "Caetano de Campos" em São Paulo, dos meus amigos de ginásio de lá, Da Silvia Maria Galante, Sun Rei Din, da Hannah, do Victor Hugo, do Ricardo e do Marcelo.
Saudade de ouvir todos os álbuns dos Beatles em Brasília, das festas da vizinhança, quando eu matinha uma paixão secreta pelo meu vizinho e eu esperava, ansiosa por qualquer desculpa para vê-lo.
Saudade do Lollo (meu chocolate favorito) e de tomar Ovo Maltine. Bater com leite em pó para ficar bem grosso.
Abrir uma lata de leite condensado e comer com uma banana inteira.Saudade da minha botinha de cano longo branca, do meu biquini amarelinho de quando eu tinha uns 9 anos, acho.
Saudades de ir para águas de Lindóia de férias. Saudades da primeira vez que eu vi o mar quando desci para Santos de ônibus . Foi uma experiencia marcante!
Saudades da nossa casa em São Vicente na Pedro Alvares Cabral, saudades da minha mãããããããããe!

Oglethorpe, there I go...

I'm very happy. My application has been accepted at Oglethorpe, now I have to call them to make an appointment to register for the next term which starts May 10th. They actually offer two 8-week sessions each Spring, Summer and Fall. Norman gave me these books !!!!!!
and we celebrated it in style. I'm really pleased with been accepted specially at Oglethorpe, first because it's near me. (Opposed to Agnes Scott)and obviously because it's an accredited school and last but not least because the course "Organizational Management" is right up my alley.
Eeeeeeaaaaaaaa!!!!!! Changing subject a little bit...
Norman and I have different point of views in many aspects. Other day, we're discussing how blogging for me is an expression of what I usually deal with on my daily basis.It's a blank page where I can write down my frustations, my opinions, my inner, deep emotions without having anybody pointing fingers at me and saying, no, no, no. Or being worried what I'm saying is politically correct or not.
For him, on the other hand, it is just unnecessary exposure of your private life. It's invasion of your privacy.It's nobody's business.
I started thinking of it very seriously, I don't agree with him 100%.I'm not a showing off type of person in any way, and bothers me he feels this way.At same time, if it bothers me is because deep inside I feel it's true. Any psychologist on call?

Girl´s night out
Ufa!! Weekend was busy. Friday night was "girls night out". We had fun at Plaka, a bar on Chestshire Bridge. Belly dancers show started at ten, and after that everybody decided to become a belly dancer, dancing on the top of tables.
Then Sat. Juice Plus's Boot-Camp was full of excellent information and good contacts for the future.Sunday barbecue at Chris's and Riane's.Marjorie and Steve, Janine and Vera, Yolanda were there and was cool and breeze outside. it started at 4:00 and we stayed until 9:30. I'd say I had fun but I'm exhausted.Taking it easy today, since is my day off.Even God had his, right?

Eu resolvi escrever este post por conta da polêmica criada pelo tema "estereótipo daqui e de lá. Eu moro nos EUA à 8 anos e nunca eu cruzei com nenhum americano, com QI normal, que fizesse comentários do tipo: Brazil tem macaco na rua,que ninguém passa fome, porque tem bananeira por todos os lados. etc.
Nem todos os americanos sao intelectuais ou preocupados com a cultura e geografia mundial. Depende de com quem voce se relaciona é que resulta este tipo de comentários.Existe ignorância em todas as sociedades e eu nao me sinto ofendida pelo fato de algumas pessoas nao conhecerem minha cultura.E eu também nao acho que vai fazer mudar ou aumentar o respeito que eles vao ter por mim se o meu país é de primeiro mundo ou terceiro. O que é importante é a imagem que cada um de nós como indivíduo projeta no mundo lá fora.Se você tem boas maneiras; se nao bate a porta na cara de ninguém numa loja, se você fala baixo, se você entende que o seu gosto musical é só seu; o vizinho nao têm a obrigaçao de escutar a sua música alta... Ou se você tem a famosa atitude do "cheguei olhe para mim com a "famous brazilian fashion" (bunda de fora, peito de fora), nao cumprimenta ninguém, nao pede desculpas, nao pede por favor, nao diz obrigado,e assim vai...
Posso citar kilos de exemplos de como a sua atitude vai determinar se você vai ou nao ganhar o respeito de um americano.Tudo é uma questao de bom senso. Se você responde agressivamente a uma pergunta você vai receber agressividade de volta.
Um dos comportamentos que eu mais noto aqui na comunidade brasileira, é que o brasileiro quer que o americano se adapte a eles.Você nao está mais vivendo no Brasil, você tem que se adaptar, ou pelo menos tentar se adaptar e respeitar as leis daqui. Aqui, graças a Deus, nao tem o jeitinho brasileiro.E igual para todo mundo. Nao interprete e nao se ofenda com tudo o que as pessoas dizem levando para o lado pessoal. Se voce acha que é crítica, aceite; se você acha que mudando vai te beneficiar. Se você acha que é crítica destrutiva aí sim, argumente. Mas nem tudo que é dito, é dito para diminuir você ou da importância do que você é como ser humano.

They accepted me as a member right after I had posted my last blog complaining about it.On the process of getting my membership, I gladly ran into 5 to 7 new bloggers.One I really liked, I'm linking it to my page. the other one, she's been living in Sweden,and she's a founder of an organization in Brazil, Grupo Origem,that for 15 years has educated mothers-to-be about the importance of breast-feeding.
Living in Sweden hasn't stopped her from keeping working, now as a consultant and webmaster for a site Aleitamento Online, last year IBEST's winner for best site on the cathegory:woman.
