A sweet dog

Woof, woof! We took possession of Fifi for a week while her parents are on vacation.
She is still adjusting to her temporary house but she has a favorite spot. She loves lying down on the couch, on the top of the pillows. Uncle Norm yells at her every time – “Get off the couch, Get off the couch, Fifi!” but she is smart and somehow manages to win him over with lots of kisses. In the end, she gets away with crime!
The best time of the day for her is when either Norm or I come home and take her for a walk. Her bobtail can’t stop- it goes side to side, round and round, up and down and she gives us lots of kisses! Life is good!

Owl vest

The owl vest is in blocking phase. I simply loved knitting it and the yarn I chose has not disappointed me. The yarn is the Gramercy from Lily Chin, color 7543. To tell the truth, I’ve never knitted with such adorable and butter soft yarn like this before. It just glides over the needle and its malleability and drape is incredible.
Another lesson I learned with this project was to knit English style. It became so much easier for me, and I realized I was knitting totally crooked because I wasn’t knitting using neither Continental, nor English style. I don’t know what type of mess I was doing before, but I fixed it.
Every time I knitted on the round and had to switch to straight needles, the fabric ended up always slanted to the left where I was knitting on the round. I figured that out when I was knitting the evening shrug but I couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong. Well… now I know!
After blocking it and sewing the buttons up, I’ll post the pictures.
In the meantime, I was looking for tutorials on the double knitting technique and I couldn’t find anyone with clear and straight forward instructions. I started google-ing and found this site, Winter Foliage. Teaching is truly an art and few people master it. This lady, Miss Katie, is one of them. She nailed it. Merci!!

South Pacific musical

South Pacific is a magnificent story that takes place in a tropical island during World War II. The musical tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples -- US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush and French plantation owner Emile de Becque and Navy Airman Joe Cable and a young local native girl Liat -- and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices.
The setting is so stunning, you literally feel transported to an island and the songs bring you back to the 1940’ atmosphere where it seemed life was so much simpler and nicer.
“Some enchanted evening” is a beautiful song and I don't know who has written it but in Rod Gilfry’s voice sounds absolutely stunning and heartfelt. I would say his performance has much more punch than Paulo Szor’s. I know… I should say the other way around, after all Paulo is Brazilian. Forgive me but Rod’s overall performance is superior and superb!!!
South Pacific is a lesson o life layered with humor, passion and reinforces the idea that with hope in our hearts, we have the power to overcome hatred and prejudice and find the true meaning of our lives: LOVE!
By the way, Fox Theatre is a stunning venue and going back there is always a great deal of fun!

The evening shrug was fun to knit and despite some bumps on the road, it turned out to be really cute. This pattern is perfect for beginners and the lacy cuff brings a little touch of sophistication if you want to wear it at night. A shrug can be worn day or night and it is like a splash of color which adds an incredible flair to any wardrobe. I learned different grafting techniques, but I came to a conclusion that the kitchener is the best if you like an invisible seam. I found this video where I learned to pay attention to the sets, making the memorization much simpler. Once you get the idea, it is easy and smooth sailing . Actually I am posting the sequence, so when I need for further projects, here is the mantra:

First set –
Front needle
- knit, let the stitch fall off the needle
- purl, leave the stitch on the neddle
Back needle
- purl, let the stitch fall off the neddle
- knit, leave the stitch on the needle
Second set-
Front needle
- knit, let the stitch fall off the needle
- purl, leave the stitch on the neddle
Back needle
- purl, let the stitch fall off the neddle
- knit, leave the stitch on the needle

Keep repeating the sets until you cast off all the stitches

I did a spring cleaning inside my bathroom drawer. I am throwing away my ancient makeup. Seriously, I got foundation with expiration dated in 1996.
I clutter a lot, especially makeup. Seriously, one of these days, I will take a picture of my closet for further evidence.
Since it is beginning of spring and I am feeling good, I decided to do a spring cleaning and as I am in the cleaning mode already, I got inspired and uncluttered underneath the cabinet´s sink as well. Old shampoos, conditioners, hair detanglers, body lotion, creams, everything out. Off with the old, on with the new. It looks a lot better now without the mess.
The expiration dates on certain cosmetics are incredible. I freaked out when I realized I was wearing old eye liners and bacteria grows all over the tip of the applicator. Yack!

Eu fiz uma faxina grossa na minha gaveta do banheiro. Estou jogando fora toda minha maquiagem antiga. Sério, eu tenho base com vencimento datado em 96.
Eu sou muito desorganizada, um dia desses, eu tiro uma foto do meu armário para posterior evidência.
Como é começo de primavera, decidi fazer uma limpa. Já que estou no módulo limpeza, me inspirei e organizei o armário embaixo da pia. Shampoos expirados, condicionadores, desembaraçantes, loção para o corpo, cremes, joguei tudo fora. Fora com o velho, espaço para o novo. A aparência dos armários melhorou muito, agora sem a bagunça.
As datas de vencimento em certos cosméticos são inacreditáveis. Eu me assustei quando percebi que estava usando delineador velho e que bactérias crescem incontroláveis ao redor do pincel. Eco!

Do you know what Furoshiki is?

Have you heard of furoshiki? The word furoshiki, literally means furo (bath) and shiki (spread). It was created in the Edo period (1615-1868), time where the public baths (sento) became popular. Patrons of these public baths would carry their change of clothes and bathing articles wrapped into the furoshiki, and then they would spread it out on the floor to get their clothes changed on it.
The furoshiki saw its days of glory in the Edo period, where it was considered a functional and essential item among the working class. Merchants and peddlers would carry their wares to the street in the furoshiki, then lay them out on the top of the furoshiki fabric to sell them. Gifts for special events such as weddings would also be presented in a furoshiki wrap to the newlyweds.
The concept of furoshiki declined in popularity over the years, but lately it has returned with a vengeance. The furoshiki wrappings turn ordinary fabric into bags and most everything can be wrapped using the furoshiki technique. It is a kind of origami in fabric, depending on how you fold it. The knot technique creates unique and creative packages.

Make 1 right

I started off on my first sleeve of the evening shrug. At certain point of the work, I started increasing using the make1 right and make1 left technique. I just can’t figure out why mine looks so slanted to the left. It has only been over a year that I began knitting, so every piece of instructional help I find on the internet, I desperately use it. I actually, followed these 2 instructional videos on the technique. Now I feel I have knitted too far up on the sleeve to unravel everything. At this point, it really does not matter! With resignation, I keep on knitting. The slanting won’t be shown...hopefully.
I took my back measurement and I am going to start knitting the back. I know how obsessed I become to finish my projects. It shouldn’t be like this. Knitting is supposed to be relaxing and not a job. Perhaps I need psycho therapy, not knitting. Go figure...
And changing subject a little, over the weekend, I stayed home, browsing the net, when I found this lady who inspired me to throw my old makeup away (really ancient) and to buy only some basic products; like eye shadow primer and foundation primer. I had never heard of neither one before. While reading her posts, I discovered something about me. I don’t know how to apply makeup correctly. I immediately considered, perhaps, enrolling myself in a makeup course, or going to Macy’s and getting some free makeup and tips on how to apply eye shadow without looking like 100 year-old wrinkled lady that never wore moisturizer. Comecei a minha primeira manga do “bolero prá noite”. Num determinado trecho do trabalho, eu comecei a aumentar um ponto através do aumento intercalado à direita e um ponto através do aumento intercalado à esquerda. Eu não entendo por que a minha parece tão inclinada à esquerda. Faz apenas um pouco mais de um ano que comecei a tricotar, dai, toda instrução que eu encontro na internet, eu desesperadamente uso. Eu realmente, segui as instruções sobre esta técnica à risca. Dê uma olhadinha aqui. Agora, a manga está muita longa para desfazê-la. Em renúncia, eu continuo assim mesmo. Os aumentos não vão aparecer. Eu espero!
Eu tirei as medidas e agora vou começar a tricotar as costas. Uma vez comecado, fico obcecada para terminar. Não devia ser assim. Tricotar é suposto ser relaxante e não um fardo. Talvez eu precise de terapia psicológica, não de tricô. Vai saber...
E mudando um pouco de assunto, no fim de semana, eu fiquei em casa, navegando pela net, quando encontrei esta moça que me inspirou a jogar fora toda a minha maquiagem velha(velhícima) e comprar alguns produtos básicos, como este primer para sombra de olho e e um primer para ser usado antes da base. Eu nunca tinha ouvido falar de nenhum deles antes. Durante a leitura de seus posts, eu descobri algo sobre mim. Eu não sei aplicar maquiagem corretamente. Eu imediatamente pensei… talvez, me matricular em um curso de maquiagem, ou ir para a Macy's e marcar uma maquiagem gratuita e obter dicas sobre como aplicar a sombra sem, no processo, envelhecer cem anos.

Prospects

My last indulgence was the purchase of this book and when I got it in the mail and opened it, I realized it was worth every penny!
First of all, every pattern is explained by using words, opposed to graphics, which I have a little bit of a problem to understand.
Secondly, the patterns are really stunning. I took some pics of the ones I ambitiously intend to knit on the course of this year. I know I can, I just got to pick up the pace and seven is a very lucky, rounded number; considering we’re already in March. A project a month, not too shabby!!!
My current project is the evening shrug taken from the Purl Bee. I am enjoying knitting it a lot and the bamboo yarn is soft and easy to knit with. It was kind of pricey, but it turned out to be a nice change from my last Noro/Multidirectional disaster. Noro left a really bad taste in my month.
I do not mind investing in a high quality yarn, as long as the quality translates in the work's final result. Noro was sort of a rip off. Oh, well, let's move on.
Finalmente me permiti comprar este livro, e qual foi minha surpresa ao abrir a caixa e folhear as páginas... valeu o gasto de cada centavo!
Primeiramente, todas as receita são escritas; sem muitos gráficos, o qual tenho um pouco de dificuldade para entender.
Em segundo lugar, as receitas são divinas. Tirei algumas fotos do que eu chamo de projeto super ambicioso. Tricotar 01 por mes. Eu sei que eu posso, eu só tenho que pegar o ritmo. Oito é um bom número, considerando que já estamos em março.
Meu projeto atual é o bolerinho prá noite e foi retirada do Purl Bee. Eu estou adorando tricotá-lo e a linha é fiada do bambu. Super macia e fácinha de deslizar nas agulhas. Eu nao planejava gastar tanto, mas está sendo bem diferente do meu desastroso Noro/Multidirecional . Não me importo de investir em um fio de alta qualidade, conquanto que o trabalho mostre a qualidade.

Multidirectional scarf

I finished off the multidirectional scarf and it’s like a huge load has been lifted off my back. When I started this project I was feeling really good and excited, but as soon I started knitting it, I realize the yarn was very inconsistent. I have never had such a disappointing experience with a yarn like this. I would never buy Noro Kureyon, ever again. In some parts of the scarf, I had to double strand and some triangles got a little thick on the texture, and in some other parts, it turned out really thin, almost thread thin texture.
It was a mess, and I hated the colorway so much, I decided to use different yarns from my leftover stash, just to make the colors to pop up and bring some life to the scarf.
I just cannot believe nobody had problems with Noro. I looked up online under yarn reviews and there is nothing written about Noro, nothing!!! Hard to believe!
Another issue I got stumped at was the casting off technique on the diagonal multidirectional. It took me a solid full day to figure it out. The only thing I had to do was to just knit exactly like it was written on the pattern. Oh, well, I am happy it is all behind.
I took some pictures and I am posting them as reference for future projects. No, I don’t have plans to return to knit this pattern ever again, but in case I change my mind, I have a door open, so to speak.

Eu terminei o cachecol multidirecional e foi como se um peso enorme saisse das minhas costas. Quando eu comecei este projeto, eu estava bem empolgada e sentindo que eu ia conseguir, mas logo que comecei a tricotar, percebi que o fio era muito inconsistente. Eu realmente nunca tinha tido uma experiência com um fio como este antes. Eu jamais compraria Noro Kureyon, novamente.
Alguns triângulos ficaram com uma textura grossa, e em outras partes, o fio revelou-se muito fino, tão fino, que eu tive que dobrá-los.
Eu odiei as cores, tanto, que decidi usar fios diferentes de sobras de outros trabalhos, para fazer a cachecol ganhar um pouco de vida.
Eu simplesmente não posso acreditar que ninguém teve problemas com Noro. Procurei na internet e não há nada escrito sobre Noro, nada! Difícil de acreditar!
Outra questão que eu encalhei foi com a técnica de arrematá-lo. Levei um dia inteiro tentando arrematar o bendito sem sucesso.
Até que eu li e entendi. É exatamente como lê-se na receita. Postei algumas fotos, apenas como referência para o futuro. Eu não tenho planos de voltar a tricotar essa receita nunca mais, mas em caso eu mude de idéia, eu tenho uma porta aberta para possibilidades.

- 2 novelos de lã Fio Napoli da Linea Italia na cor 14
- Agulha para tricô nº7
Passo a passo:

Pontos: tricô, mate simples (tire um ponto sem fazer, 1 tricô passe o ponto sem fazer por cima do tricô).

1- Colocar 2 pontos na agulha, 1ª carreira: 1 tricô, 1 laço, 1 tricô.
2- 2ª carreira: 1 tricô, 1 laço, 2 tricô.
3- 3 ª carreira: 1 tricô, 1 laço, 3 tricô. Continuar aumentado 1 ponto em todas as carreira até obter 22 pontos.

Próximo passo:
4- 1 aumento no 1º ponto, 1 mate simples, volte (vire o trabalho e trabalhe os pontos em tricô)todas as carreira de volta em tricô.
5- 1 aumento no 1º ponto, 1 tricô, 1 mate simples, volte
1 aumento no 1º pontos, 2 tricô, 1 mate simples, volte
1 aumento no 1º pontos, 3 tricô, 1 mate simples, volte
6- Continuar fazendo o aumento no 1º ponto e tricô até terminar os pontos do triangulo anterior.
7- Começar novamente os aumentos e os mates simples como nas carreiras anteriores, até atingir o comprimento desejado para o cachecol.
8- Ultimo triângulo (para ficar com o acabamento quadrado), trabalhe esse triângulo como os anteriores até ter o mesmo nº de pontos nas 2 agulhas (metade em cada uma).
9- Volte em tricô normalmente, arremate 1 ponto.
10- Continuar a carreira até a metade 1 mate simples volta, mais uma diminuição.
11- Continuar a carreira até a metade 1 mate simples.
12- Continuar dessa maneira até terminar os pontos.
13- Corte o fio e passe pelo elo do ponto.

Cable top

One more project finished and off the needles. My cable top is in final stage of grafting. I looked up online and still don’t know which technique I am going to use. The three needles binding looks the easiest. The Kitchener is still too complicated for me, especially memorizing where to knit and where to purl. I haven’t made my mind yet. The video for this project can be found here. There are a few projects I’ve been obsessed with. Every three of these projects could make me feel like I accomplished something as a new knitter: the multi directional scarf, the owl baby vest and this legwarmer. The biggest challenge is the vest but I will only know if I decide to take a deep breath and make it happen. I have a friend who had a baby past December, I’ve been putting off to start the vest since then, but the baby is growing fast, by the time I have knitted it, he will have outgrown the vest.

A package has just been delivered and it’s been the fastest delivery I have ever ordered from my homeland.
I was browsing the net, when I bumped into these adorable items from this seller and after putting the order together and contacting them, it took just 5 days to the package to arrive. I was pleased with their customer service and I’ll repeat business with them, over and over again.
First I fell in love with this necklace, as soon I put my eyes on it. Then, I decided to order this roomy tote and this lovely clutch.
Every piece is handmade by an association of women in the northeast of Brazil. They only use organic and seasonal seeds and fruits, avoiding the depletion of natural resources. Every tote, jewelry and clutch are unique, stylish and cutting edge. Tout nouveau tout beau!
Well, switching wheels a little bit, I have to say that lately I feel that the days just sneak up on me. One day is Monday, and next thing I know, it’s Friday again. My weekends have been nonexistent, and I get frustrated when the weekend is over so quickly. The fact that I plan so many tasks and in the end, it seems I can’t get half of my list accomplished is maddening! Oh, well, I’ll get my projects done, one way or the other.
One of these days, I’ll at least catch up with my reading. I hate the so called "New Year’s Resolutions", but one resolution I would love to get accomplished would be reading a book a month. Forget about exercising 5 days a week, or knitting a sweater in less than 3 weeks, I wanna catch up with my reading! In 2010, I need to quit watching so much TV and exercise my brain muscles and find the will power within to stop the talk and walk the walk!!!

Uma encomenda acabou de chegar, mais rápido do que nunca, vinda da minha terra natal.
Eu estava navegando na net, quando me cruzei com esses adoráveis itens deste vendedor e depois de preeencher a ordem e contatar o vendedor, levou apenas 5 dias para o pacotinho chegar. Fiquei satisfeita com o atendimento ao consumidor provido pelo vendedor e com certeza voltarei a comprar com eles, .
Primeiro eu me apaixonei por este colar, assim que coloquei meus olhos nele. Então, eu decidi encomendar este espaçoso tote e esta carteira encantadora.
Ultimamente eu sinto que os dias passam sorrateiramente. Hoje é segunda-feira, e de repente, é sexta-feira novamente. Meus fins de semana tem sido inexistentes, e me sinto frustrada quando o fim de semana passa assim, tão rapido. De fato eu tento fazer variadas tarefas. mas no final, parece que eu não consigo executar nem a metade do planejado. Bom, num desses dias, eu vou conseguir terminar meus projetos. Por bem ou por mau. Odeio o chamado: resoluções de Ano Novo, mas eu não me importaria de cumprir com esta: uma leitura de pelo menos um livro por mês. Esqueça ir a academia 5 dias por semana, ou tricotar um suéter em menos de 3 semanas, eu quero colocar minha leitura em dia! Em 2010, eu quero parar de ver a telinha, e ler mais, por favor!

Arctic cold

For the last few weeks temperatures have reached 20˚F. It has been challenging for me, especially early in the morning. Going out and trying to brave this cold hasn’t been anything I look forward to. The tip of my fingers and toes freeze, despite my heavy gear and layers upon layers of sweaters, and gloves, and socks and jackets. It feels like arctic cold.
Snowing in the south is not compatible with people’s daily routine. Roads become slippery and the system is not designed with enough infra-structure to an effective and quick roads-clean up. The consequences of this can be seen on the news. It’s an absolute pandemonium. More cars accidents than normal, traffic jams, and in some cases, people end up dying stupidly.
Yesterday, I chose for the sake of my safety, and everybody else behind a steering wheel to stay home. I knitted away a blouse. Pattern was taken from this site. The yarn is mercerized cotton, beautiful shade of beige, but there was not too much left, so I couldn’t knit with two strands. It is a little see through, but I may need to wear a bandeau underneath, it should help a bit. My last resource: make it into a beach top/cover-up.
The rest of the day, I used to take some pictures of this zigzag scarf and beret and a lovely flower.



Nas últimas semanas as temperaturas chegaram à -6˚ C. Tem sido um desafio para mim, especialmente pela manhã. Sair e enfrentar este frio não tem sido legal. Eu sinto a ponta dos dedos das mãos e pés congelando, mesmo com luvas e meias de lã grossa. Parece que é um frio ártico, de doer até os ossos.
Os últimos dois dias têem nevado, o que aqui no sul, não é compatível com a rotina diária das pessoas. Estradas se tornam escorregadias eo sistema não foi desenhado com infra-estrutura para uma eficaz e rápida limpeza das estradas. As conseqüências disso pode ser visto no noticiário. Todos estes dias, mais acidentes de carros que o normal, o tráfego mais caótico que nunca, e em alguns casos com fatalidades.
Ontem, eu fiz a escolha certa: fiquei em casa, tricotando uma blusa. Eu peguei a receita neste sítio. O fio é de algodão mercerizado, um belo tom de bege, mas não havia muito fio, eu não tinha como tricotar com fio duplo. É um pouco transparente na pele, mas se eu usá-la com um tomara-que-cai por baixo, é passável. Na última hipótese, pode ser usada como regata de praia.
O resto do dia, que eu usei para tirar algumas fotos deste cachecol zigzag e uma boina onde agreguei esta delicada flor.

Quem não se lembra do Mappin. Era uma das maiores, e mais completas lojas de departamento de São Paulo, alguns dizem; da América do Sul. Bem alí, na Praça Ramos, quase em frente ao Teatro Municipal.
A loja ocupava o espaço de três prédios, departamentos variados distribuídos em três pisos, subsolo, e era todo pintado de verde-musgo. Havia também um grande relógio no topo, indicando a hora precisa para os apressados pedestres, que cruzavam diariamente as imediações da Praça Ramos.
Era fim dos anos 60, começo dos anos 70. Eu era menina, mas me lembro nitidamente,
minhas visitas ao Mappin. Especialmente na época das festas natalinas. As vitrines com temas natalícios, eram de encher os olhos! Era um passeio sempre muito esperado. Saíamos da Avenida São Luis, à pé, e íamos caminhando, passos rápidos, até o Mappin. A expectativa era um crescendo, eu sentia o momento se aproximando, o grand finale. Para quem conhece São Paulo, a caminhada é um tanto extensa, mas a alegria de vermos as vitrines valia qualquer sacrifício.
Na frente, pilhas e mais pilhas de crianças se acotovelavam, buscando um cantinho livre, sem ninguém para impedir a visão. E que visão! Todos pareciam compartilhar daquela alegria inebriante. Jovens, idosos, escrituários, office-boys. Todos pareciam fazer parte daquele momento! Inesquecível, o Mappin, vai ser sempre um morador permanente na minha memória!

Socks for the holidays

For the past 2 weeks I´m furiously trying to finish up a pair of socks to give to my niece this Christmas. A found this self-striping yarn at a store nearby. It cost me more that I was planning to spend on a skein of yarn, but the colorway is so yammy!

The art of imprisoning bubbles

When we were in Paris, my husband and I took a tour to the region of Champagne, an hour and a ½ northeast from Paris.
We visited two houses, Mumm (Reims) and Moët&Chandon (Epernay), a house that also produces the famous Dom Pérignon. The main grape used in the process of making champagne is the Pinot Meunier, known by its high acidity, which gives Champagne its distinct taste. This grape is harvested between September and early October.
The whole process of making champagne is really awesome and the craftsmanship is not shorter than impressive. Dom Pérignon is a prestige cuvée, meaning that it is made out of the best grapes of the highest-rated villages and are also made only in vintage years. The cellar master from the house will determine on whether or not, that year will be a vintage year or not. Another aspect that differ Cuvée from non-vintage is the time the vintage champagne is declared officially vintage. Three years out of each decade. It blew me away!
Throughout the tour, the guide explains each step of the process and at one point the guide elaborates about the riddling. The wine bottles are placed in A-frame racks, necks down.
The remueur, or riddler, goes through millions of bottles and manually, gives a slight and precise turn, 20, 30 45 and 60˚ degree. After six to eight weeks, the bottle is almost completely upside down, with the sediment (yeasts) resting in the neck of the bottle.
Then they start the dégorgement. They use a solution to freeze the top of the bottle. The bottle cap is removed and the sediment flies out. At this point, they add the liqueur d´expedition, a combination of sugar+wine and the champagne is rated into the following categories: Brut, (dry) Extra brut (less dry), sec (sweet) and demi-sec (sweetest).

Champagne is now recorked with real cork, instead of a bottle cap. Outstandingly every house only employs a hand-full of riddles. Mumm claims only 2 men are in charge of turning 6 thousand bottles a day. Revolving bottles is a very prestigious and honored job in the region.
Visiting the depths of the cold caves and learning where the champagne is born was a fantastic experience!

Na nossa visita à Paris, meu marido e eu fizemos uma excursão à região de Champagne, 1 ½ hora nordeste de Paris.
Visitamos duas casas, Mumm em Reims e Moët & Chandon em Epernay, esta casa também produz o famoso Dom Pérignon. As principais uvas utilizadas na produção do champanhe é a Pinot Meunier, conhecida pela sua elevada acidez e exatamente pelo qual o Champanhe se distingue dos outros vinhos. A colheita acontece nos meses de Setembro e final de Outubro.
A produção do champanhe é realmente impressionante e o trabalho envolvido não é nada menos que fascinante. Dom Pérignon é um champagne de prestígio, o que significa que ele é feito com as melhores uvas das mais selecionadas aldeias. O artesão mestre da adega determina se deve ou não, naquele ano, ser um ano vintage. Outro aspecto que difere Cuvée de não-vintage é o ano em que o champanhe vintage é declarado oficialmente vintage. Três anos à cada dez anos. É para pirar qualquer cabeça!
Durante todo o passeio, o guia explica o processo passo à passo, e num determinado ponto, o guia elabora sobre o remuage. As garrafas de vinho são colocados em armações de madeira, todas as garrafas com os gargalos direcionados para baixo.
O remueur, passa diariamente, por todos os milhões de garrafas, e manualmente, dá uma ligeira e precisa volta nas garrafas, 20, 30 45 e 60 graus ˚. Depois de seis à oito semanas, a garrafa está quase completamente de cabeça para baixo, com o sedimento descansando no gargalo da garrafa.
Então eles começam com o dégorgement do gargalo. Eles usam uma solução para congelar a parte superior do frasco. A tampa do frasco é removida e os sedimentos (fermentos) colados na tampa, voam para fora. Neste momento, o liqueur d´expedition é adicionado. Uma mistura de açúcar e vinho. Daí é que vai determinar-se a classificação do champanhe. Brut, (bem seco) Extra brut (Não tão seco), sec (doce), demi-sec (mais doce).
O Champanhe é agora tampado com cortiça, em vez de uma tampa de garrafa.
Nós perguntamos quantos trabalhadores especializados trabalham neste processo. Na Moët&Chandon, eles empregam alguns, não disseram quantos. A Mumm afirma que eles só têem 2 homens, e este é um trabalho altamente prestigiado e honrado na região.

Acabamos de voltar da nossa visita à Paris.Foram 9 dias de absoluto desfrute e visitamos todos os óbvios lugares e muitos outros!
Um dos destaques da nossa viagem foi visitar o Museu Jacquemart André. De 11 de setembro de 2009 à 11 de Janeiro de 2010, o museu está sediando, pela primeira vez em Paris, uma excelente seleção de obras dos grandes mestres flamengos dos séculos 14 a 18, incluindo Bruegel, Memling, Van Eyck, Jacob Jordaens, Titian entre outros. Intercalados com estes trabalhos, há também obras das escolas italianas, holandesas e alemãs. Esta coletânea pertence a uma das coleções mais prestigiadas da Europa Central – a Coleção Brukenthal.
São 50 obras de arte de tirar o fôlego! Pela primeira vez esta exposição está sendo exposta em Paris, e tivemos o privilégio de visitá-la. Os franceses estavam em absoluto frenesi.

O palácio onde Nélie Jacquemart e Eduard André viveram, é repleto de artes decorativas, mobiliário, tapetes, esculturas italianas, bustos e antiguidades. A área de recepção é esplendorosa. A construção de um sistema hidráulico tornou possível aderir a Grande Sala de Desenho, Sala de Jantar, Sala Grande e Quarto de Pintura num único grande salão, suficiente para hospedar numa só noite 1.000 convidados.

O museu foi dividido em quinze quartos, incluindo um sortido número de salas: quarto de pintura, sala de estar formal; importante pelo seus painéis, a sala de música, mobiliada com damasco vermelho e mobília de ébano, onde órgãos e concertos de música de câmara eram realizados; Jardim de inverno, desenhado por Henri Parent e um dos destaques da casa, e uma pequena sala de fumantes com pinturas do período inglês. Há também pequenas salas: sala da tapeçaria, estudo, boudoir, e biblioteca.
Ao todo, o museu abriga 150 mestres, incluindo Rembrandt, Tiepolo, Della Robbia, Botticelli, Uccello, Carpaccio, Mantegna, Bellini, Boucher, Fragonard e Chardin. Os guias de áudio estão incluídos no preço do ingresso. Idiomas: Francês, Inglês, Alemão, Italiano, Japonês, Espanhol.
Eu comprei os ingressos pela internet antes de partirmos. É só acessar o site do museu. Uma ótima dica para aqueles que apreciam arte.

We have just returned from our visit to Paris. It was 9 days of absolute enjoyment and we sightseeing all the obvious places and many others!
One of the highlights of our trip was to visit the Museum Jacquemart André. From September 11, 2009 to January 11, 2010, the museum is hosting for the first time in Paris, an excellent selection of works of the great Flemish masters of the 14th to 18th centuries, including Bruegel, Memling, Van Eyck, Jacob Jordaens, Titian among others. Interwined with these works, there are also works of Italian, Dutch and German schools. This collection belongs to one of the most prestigious collections of Central Europe - the Brukenthal collection.
The collection is consisted of 50 masterpieces and they are truly breathtaking! For the first time this exhibition has been shown in Paris, and we had the privilege of visiting it. The French people were in absolute frenzy over it.

The palace where Nélie Jacquemart and Eduard André lived is full of decorative arts, furniture, carpets, Italian sculptures, busts and antiquities. The foyer is splendid.
The museum was divided into fifteen rooms: painting room, formal living room, important by its panels, the music room; furnished with red damask and ebony furniture. Back then, musical concerts were attended by a selective and affluent Parisian crowd. In some occasions,Monsieur André, would invite a very few privileged guests to go upstairs, to see his Italian art collection. The Winter Garden, another stunning chamber, was designed by Henri Parent and it is one of the highlights of the house. On the first floor, there is a small smoking room adorned with paintings of the English period. There are also small rooms such as: the tapestry room, study, boudoir, and library.
Altogether, the museum houses 150 masters, including Rembrandt, Tiepolo, Della Robbia, Botticelli, Uccello, Carpaccio, Mantegna, Bellini, Boucher, Fragonard and Chardin. Audio guides are included in the price of admission and are available in French, English, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
I bought the tickets on the internet before we left. Just look up for the museum’s site. It is a great program for those who appreciate art.
